Cybersafety requires a coordinated and collaborative national approach.
To begin addressing the issue of cybersafety and cyberbullying, NCAB with support from the Centre for Strategic Education (CSE) held a symposium in Melbourne in May 2007.
Federal Communications Minister Helen Coonan and Victorian Education Minister Jacinta Allan addressed the symposium, which was supported by the Telstra Foundation. In addition, cyber-safety specialists from the USA, New Zealand and Australian, including several NCAB members, gave insightful presentations.
The symposium participants agreed that cybersafety requires a coordinated and collaborative national approach. As a result, NCAB is now working with a variety of interest groups including education, welfare, industry, government, police, parents, students and not-for-profit to harness the outcomes of the symposium.
